How come parents like to hide sex from there kids?

Why Is it such a big deal for a kid look at a sex scene on Television or couples having a passionate kiss. This doesn't makes much sense to me, some animals in the wild either have sex for recreational purposes or to mate humans are a type of animal so I don't get why we have to either hide it or lie to them about it and tell when you think there old enough to understand. what are thoughts on it?
